Facebook Image Sizes
Facebook uses different image sizes for feed posts, cover photos, profile pictures, and events. Each surface has its own crop behaviour — uploading at the exact spec keeps Facebook from auto-cropping in unhelpful ways.

Facebook sizing FAQ
What size is a Facebook cover photo?▼
Facebook cover photos display at 851×315 pixels on desktop and 640×360 on mobile. Upload at 851×315 with critical content in the centre 640×360 area so it survives the mobile crop.
What is the best size for a Facebook post image?▼
For standalone image posts, use 1200×1200 (1:1) or 1080×1350 (4:5) for the most feed real estate. For link share images, use 1200×630 (1.91:1) to match Open Graph defaults.
What size is a Facebook profile picture?▼
Facebook profile pictures display at 170×170 on desktop and 128×128 on mobile but should be uploaded at 320×320 or larger. They appear as circles, so centre the subject.
Why does my Facebook cover photo look stretched?▼
Cover photos that were uploaded at the wrong aspect ratio get stretched or letterboxed to fit 851×315. Resize your source image to exactly 851×315 before uploading.
What file format works best on Facebook?▼
JPEG for photos, PNG for logos and graphics with text or sharp edges. Facebook converts PNG to JPEG for some surfaces — if text quality matters, set the file to a transparent or solid colour background to keep the conversion clean.
